I’m Amy. One year ago I cared for my husband on hospice and watched the Love of my life pass away right in front of me. It’s been a devastating loss compounded by the fact that he was the breadwinner and I am disabled. When he passed, I lost my income, my home, and I had to give away half my belongings. I moved into a small apartment with my son who was willing to live with me long enough to help me out for a year. The insurance money got us through one year which was a tremendous blessing, but now I’m out of money and I’m at risk for losing my home. I have Ehlers Danlos, Mast Cell, Dysautonomia and Chiari Malformation. Which basically means I dislocate my bones daily, and my brain is falling out the back of my skull as well as my autonomic system can’t regulate itself. I’m sicker than I’ve ever been in my life. I applied for disability last April and I’ve been told I need to make it through 4 more months before I get an answer. I desperately need help and I really don’t know what to do or who to turn to. I need to raise enough money to pay my bills and pay my rent and get me through 4 months. I don’t know what makes me more worthy than anybody else, I know we’re all struggling to make it. I’ve tried my best to always help others and to be kind and loving and thoughtful, and now I’m the one who’s needing help. I’ve done what I can. I’ve sold belongings and my wedding ring. I don’t know what else to do except to ask for the kindness of strangers to help get me through the next five months. Please help me so that I don’t lose my home and have to go through another loss.
