Call to Action: Amy needs a Liver transplant!
Donation protected

My name is Anthony and I am Amy Gambino's cousin. I am looking for a way to help this beautiful person both inside and out.
Three weeks ago, Amy went to the emergency room feeling ill and very weak. By the end of the day she had been admitted into the hospital. Her kidneys were failing and she was unable to expel the toxins in her blood, as her liver was not functioning properly causing a build up of things like copper.
After a series of tests and consultations with the specialist , they delivered the crushing news that Amy was in systemic organ failure from damage to her liver. The inability of her liver to properly filter the blood was damaging the rest of her body. They gave her Lactulose to reduce the amount of ammonia in the blood. While that helped a little it wasn't enough and the doctors ordered a biopsy which showed the liver was damaged enough that she was in need of a transplant. Amy's liver could not heal or self repair enough. This news was devastating to Amy, her family, and friends but, we are ready to mobilize to do all we can to help her win this fight.
Amy has been fortunate enough to get on the Liver transplant list at Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX. Where she will get the care and help she needs to fight this disease, while waiting for a donor organ. However, she needs funds to help with the growing costs of treatment and organ transplant. Insurance only pays for so much, and doesn't take care of any of the hidden costs.

Amy lives in Oregon and so some of her expenses will involve getting her from Oregon to Houston so the doctors at Methodist can begin preparations for the time when a liver is available and she can undergo the needed surgery. She can not fly on a commercial airlines but has to be specially transported. Other medical expenses will include all the testing she will need to go through to determine who is the best organ donor match and all of this occurs while she is hospitalized.
While insurance will pay a good portion we all KNOW that it does not pay for all of it. There is that 20% that the individual has to cover. On a procedure such as this that 20% is a hefty amount.
Countless times Amy has been there for all of us, family, friends, and even strangers. Whether it was as a patient friend, dutiful daughter, loving niece and cousin, amazing boss, or just helping people realize their dreams for travel and friendship.
Your support is needed to help with medical expenses not covered by insurance. No amount is too small. Your help is truly appreciated by all of us who love and admire Amy.
The world is better with Amy in it!
