Amy is an amazing mother to two beautiful children, Evee (6) and Greysen (4). She has been an esthetician for 15 years and owns an online cosmetic and beauty school supply company - Rock Angels Beauty. She is also a permanent makeup artist and an instructor at a beauty school in Oak Brook. Amy recently married the love of her life, and they were excited to expand their family.
The excitement of expanding their family turned to sorrow when they suffered a miscarriage in February of 2022. After the devastating loss of their pregnancy, they soon found out that Amy had experienced a Molar Pregnancy and needed a D&C procedure to save her life. In June, what they thought was a second pregnancy, was actually cells from the first pregnancy that were left behind after an incomplete D&C and caused two tumors that looked like amniotic sacs on an ultrasound.
Another D&C procedure was required to remove the tumors, and Amy began a round of chemotherapy in hopes that the tumors don't return. A molar pregnancy can have serious complications — including a rare form of cancer — and requires early treatment. Although Amy is still waiting on definitive biopsy results from Mayo Clinic, chemotherapy is the course of treatment recommended whether the pathology reveals benign or malignant masses.
Amy is an advocate for women's rights, and she is not oblivious to the fact that her story speaks to recent events in the world. Amy is grateful to live in a state where legislators understand that the procedures she received are basic healthcare and not political or polarizing.
Everyone's reaction to cancer medications is different, and despite having a positive attitude and not wanting to complain, Amy has been having a tough time. She has been experiencing; nausea, vomiting, extreme fatigue, mucositis - immensely painful sores in her mouth, throat, and likely her esophagus, the inability to speak due to pain and swelling, loss of appetite, dehydration, brain fog, skin toxicity - painful blisters all over. Because of the intensity of her symptoms, she has been unable to work. Brennan has happily assumed the role of primary caregiver of Amy. The only drawback of that position is that he is also unable to work a regular schedule and has had to take an intermittent leave of absence from his job.
While several things are unknown at this time, what we can do now is lend our support. This will be handled one day at a time, and we hope to be able to alleviate the stress of medical bills and day-to-day expenses from their list of worries. If you are able to contribute and support her, we would be truly grateful. Please keep this strong, brave woman in your prayers.
