The Amy Love Scholarship Fund
Energy. Chutzpah. Intelligence. Compassion. Amy Love had all of these qualities. And she used them to dedicate her life to community service and social justice. For over 25 years, Amy encouraged undergraduate students at San Francisco State University to do the same. We invite those whose lives Amy touched to keep her legacy alive by contributing to a scholarship fund so that Amy's work may continue.
An inspiration to not only students, but to everyone she came in contact with, Amy demonstrated the power of "yes" and of stepping up to help others in need. Amy helped launch the Discarded to Divine fashion fundraiser at St. Vincent de Paul, enlisting SFSU fashion design students to reimagine donated clothing into runway creations. Amy's students learned about community engagement by helping fellow students navigate and succeed in college through Project Shine. Bringing community service learning into her writing classes, Amy enlisted the Janet Pomeroy Center, the IT Bookman Community Center, the Factory Farming Awareness Coalition and other agencies to offer opportunities for students to learn and gain experience working as community allies.
The Amy Love Scholarship Fund will support undergraduate students, many of whom who are first-generation college students, housing-insecure, food-insecure, or in need of books or technology, in completing their studies so that they may continue the legacy of community service and social justice that Amy embodied.
Service was at the center of Amy's life. This award will enable new generations of SFSU students to follow her example by promoting academic achievement, justice and love. Please join us in honoring someone who touched us at our core.
