On July 1st, Amy was in a serious car accident in Daytona Beach, FL while she was driving for her part-time job delivering pizza. An SUV turned left in front of her and she ended up T-boning it.
Amy’s car was totaled in the accident and she was rushed to the hospital as a trauma injury. She had an open fracture of her right ankle, torn ligaments in her ankle, cuts and bruising to her right leg, a laceration to her left knee that required 13 stitches, 4 or 5 broken ribs, a broken left wrist and a laceration to her head that also required 13 stitches. She had her first surgery on her ankle the next morning and currently has a fixater in place. She will need more surgery later.
Amy has a long recovery ahead of her and she is very worried about her ankle healing as she had a previous fracture in that ankle and had difficulty with healing before. She will be off of work for months.
Amy also anticipates having legal expenses to address the car accident. (For some reason, the police gave her a ticket despite the other car turning left in front of her). She no longer has a car and will not be able to work for months. She has no income until she qualifies for short term or long term disability from work.
Amy is worried about making ends meet with no income at this time. If anyone is able to help, it would be greatly appreciated!!
Tracy was just able to return to work recently after being off for an extended sick leave herself so Amy is planning to go to a Rehab facility for a period of time when she is discharged from the hospital. We do not know about additional costs for that yet. Her sister, Lisa Thormann, and brother, Greg Foley, will probably have to take some time off of work to go to Florida to help Amy when she returns home also.
