- Amy Duel, my sister, went in for bariatric surgery and hernia surgery on Jan 20th, 2025. Surgery went well as we all thought, but soon after, she got an infection in her incision that left her with numerous surgeries that she had to overcome. She was a trooper, still calling everyone she loved. Amy was the main caretaker of her grandbabies that she loved so much. They were her world. Amy never left the hospital; she was in there for ten months. On Sept 20th, she was getting dialysis to help her kidneys that had started to shut down from all the pain meds she was on. On the 21st, she stopped calling everyone; we all knew something was wrong. On the 24th, she had a heart attack, and on the 25th, she coded three times, and sadly, on the 26th, she passed away. Her body could not take any more. Amy was so loved by everyone she knew. On the 25th, she called me and made me promise to make a GoFundMe for her. I kept asking her why she wanted me to make her a GoFundMe; she said for medical. But now here I am, making sure I fulfill her promise. Deep down, I think she knew something was going to happen, and she was worried about her loved ones that she would leave behind. We are asking for help to support Amy's family. Anything you can do to assist them with the extensive cost of funeral expenses and financial hardship is greatly appreciated.
