Amy, Craig and Keith Allison

We are sad to announce that on 11th May 2025, Amy sadly passed away suddenly at home from a cardiac arrest, aged 34.

Amy lived an extraordinary life, beating the odds at every turn — from surviving haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS) as a baby, which led to kidney failure and long-term dialysis, to receiving a transplant from her dad with less than a 10% chance of survival.

She was supported tirelessly by the Nephrology team at the Great North Children's Hospital during her childhood, and later by the adult services at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

As per Amy’s wishes, there will be no funeral. Instead, we will be raising funds for a memorial bench at Cambois Beach, where Amy was raised and loved walking her dog. Any funds exceeding the cost of the bench will be donated to charity and go towards funeral costs etc.

The bench will also honour the memory of Craig Allison — Amy’s uncle, a paramedic who gave many years of service to the NHS and who passed away in 2012 aged 38 from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia — and her grandad, Keith Allison, who died in 2006 from lung cancer. Both lived in Cambois and enjoyed the beach.
