The most sacred chapter, Amy Low

Donation protected

Most of you may know that on July 1st of this year, Amy was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic colon cancer.  While her diagnosis is daunting, her medical team is optimistic she's on a path toward a cure, but it's a very long road ahead.

In her own words, this is how Amy described her cancer diagnosis in relation to her two children:  "This the the most sacred chapter the three of us are ever going to experience.  We will experience suffering, exhaustion, anger, confusion and despair like never before.  But here's what else we'll discover- breathtaking beauty from the climb, joy that will show up in the nick of time, and even right after the nick. Mostly we're going to move through a season of love that will forever change us.  We're going to receive love in new ways, and we're going to learn how to give love to others in ways we've never even imagined.  And if we are especially brave and faithful climbers, we will forever know how to love others who face their own special mountains with a grand new set of resources. Resources we'll hold with us for the rest of our lives, no matter how long our lives last.  And that, my friends, is a miracle.  Maybe even the most important miracle of all. "

A single mother of two beautiful kids named Connor and Lucy, Amy has inspired all of us with her attitude and determination to pass through this chapter in her life with bravery and determination.

As our dear friend of 30 years we want to help her.  Many of you are already offering prayers, sending favorite books, suggesting songs and writing lovely notes of encouragement.  A special group has even made the trip to CA in order to be with her during her chemo treatments.  But for many of us, we want to do more.

Amy has a very important scan coming up at the end of this month after completing 8 rounds of chemo.  If all goes well,  and we believe it will,  she will have some precious time away from chemo--and before a big surgery-- around the holidays.  We want her to be able to to take a trip away with her kids to rest and recover over Christmas.  A chance to create some new memories and prepare for the road and surgery ahead.

As her college roommates,  Ashley and I want to help make this possible and we hope you will join us.   Our goal is a high one, because we know that there are also medical expenses and bills to be covered during time off work.

"...what sustains me, what is making me new and forever changed, is the love I'm receiving through each step. That's the element on the road to a cure that will endure..." -Amy Low
