Amy and Zach Young Fetal Surgery and Recovery
Donation protected
As most of you know, our daughter and son-in-law are headed to Houston, TX to perform surgery on Amy and their sweet baby girl.
We have created this GoFundMe page to take the burden off of Amy and Zach during this time. Over the next few days, weeks, and months, there will be countless doctor appointments, hospital stays, and surgeries. Additionally, they will have to move to Houston for an extended period of time. As you can imagine the cost of everyday living, food, gas, hotel, housing, and medical bills will be a lot on top of their current expenses back at home.
Amy will also be restricted for the remaining of her pregnancy, which means she won't be able to continue her passion and run her small business, Forever Young Spray Tan.
This will help Amy and Zach concentrate on their baby girl and their family and take some of the stress off their shoulders.
They are so thankful for the support, love, and prayers they have been receiving during this time! Please continue to pray for them!
In case anyone missed it, we have added Amy's story below which she has shared on FB.
Baby Y #3 update:
Warning...long post!!
We received heartbreaking news during our anatomy scan that our little baby girl has been diagnosed with Spina Bifida. Diagnosis day was hard for both of us and we didn't know what to think or expect. We were then sent to a high risk Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor that confirmed our diagnosis and sent us to Houston, TX to meet with more doctors that specialize in Spina Bifida and discuss the possibility of fetal surgery. The evaluation was a 3 day long process and filled with lots of doctor appointments, tests, ultrasounds, consultations, and a 2 hour MRI (not a fan of that and hope to never have to do it again!) to see if we qualify for surgery.
We have prayed and prayed and prayed to qualify for this surgery for our girl. She has an opening on her spine, so the surgery will allow the doctors to go in and close the opening which will hopefully give her a better chance to have the most normal life possible.
By the grace of God and the power of prayer, as of now, the doctors have told us both me and baby are good candidates for the surgery as long as we both stay stable and healthy. God has answered our prayers!! Surgery is scheduled for May 23rd and we would love and appreciate all of your prayers that surgery goes smoothly and that baby girl stays healthy and strong!
This has probably been the hardest (& longest) thing we've ever had to go through mentally. For the last month (to the day), since the day of diagnosis, each day that passed felt like eternity. The days have gone by so slow and the anxiety of the unknown kept me up at night and I would spiral into thinking the worst. The constant waiting and wondering (and more waiting) has been exhausting. I feel relief now that we are passed this hump and we have a plan set in place. I was terrified that we would be denied surgery and left feeling helpless for our baby girl.
I've prayed over and over again over the years that my relationship with the Lord will get stronger and I will grow closer to Him. He is doing just that. Through her, I am getting closer to HIM! Through the struggles we've already gone through, He has been there for me. Through the struggles I know we will face, I know I can lean on Him to give me the strength. I can lean on Him to guide me on how to be the best parent I can be. Although the news was painful and unexpected at first, I am confident God is doing big things for me, for her, for Zach, and for our family.
Thank you to everyone that prayed for us and our little fighter and that we qualified for this surgery! Having so many people pray and love on us through this time has been so comforting! I seriously can't thank y'all enough! The prayers WORKED! Our God is FAITHFUL and GOOD!!!!! Please continue to pray for us throughout the rest of this pregnancy!
