Help David & Michelle Amster - Medical expenses
Donation protected
On June 6 David Amster had a CT Scan to determine why his abdomen has been bigger than normal. He had been experiencing pain in that area. On June 7 his primary doctor went over the results. He has a mass attached to his pancreas. He also have an enlarged gall bladder. Other than it restricting him on what he can eat, it is not a long-term issue. It can be removed with having repercussions on the body.
His oncology doctor began pushing forward for a biopsy on the mass and a PET Scan. This has been a nightmare since both of these can only be done on O’ahu. At the end of last week, David & Michelle decided to fly to Nashville to have these done. There are world-class medical facilities in Nashville. David's oncology doctor also had a blood test to look at the “markers” in the blood for clues. One marker indicated there is cancer but where it is located cannot be completely determined until the tests in Nashville are completed. Two other “markers” indicate that the pancreas is not inflamed.
David was admitted to Vanderbilt Hospital on Sunday where the doctors have been doing multiple tests. They found that the pancreatic cancer is very advanced and aggressive. The doctors have finally found the sweet spot for pain management, so David is now comfortable and able to sleep. The palliative care team has met with them as well. Pathology results came back today and confirmed there is nothing to be done. It is definitely terminal and only a matter of a couple of weeks. David & Michelle have talked with all of their children and all the kids are making their way to Nashville.
The peace that Jesus has given both David & Michelle is sustaining them. Their trust in Him is unwavering…they know who holds the future. Only a follower of Jesus can grasp this assurance. It is real.
As you can imagine, the expenses are adding up quickly. If you would like to help them in this time of monetary need, please give what you can...every donation is a special blessing. Also feel free to leave a message for them & their family (in lieu of calls/texts) as they spend this time together.
One of the most comforting songs that rolls through David's mind daily says,
I love You, Lord
For Your mercy never fails me
All my days, I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
And all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
In the darkest night
You are close like no other
I've known You as a Father
I've known You as a Friend
And I have lived in the goodness of God
And all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God (yeah)
'Cause Your goodness is running after
It's running after me
Your goodness is running after
It's running after me
With my life laid down
I'm surrendered now
I give You everything
'Cause Your goodness is running after
It's running after me."
David's prayer is, “Not my will but Yours.”
Michelle can feel all the prayers we all are sending them, and she has a peace that passes understanding.
