New home for our Children
Donation protected
On September 1st, our sweet Briella had routine blood work done for her 12 month check up. That is when we had found out our baby girl had extremely high amounts of lead in her system. Briella has a lead count of 35.8 mcg. (Under 3.5 mcg is considered "safe" although it should be at a 0.) After finding out about her blood work, we brought our 2 boys in for a test. The results weren't what we wanted to hear, as they have lead poisoning also. The effects of lead poisoning are not reversible. And in worse case, are deadly.
Our home is very old. And after doing much research, it is likely that the lead is in our paint, floor varnish, water pipes, tub, insulation, etc. It is everywhere. At this point, our only option is to find a new home. We are currently staying in a camper that our neighbors had let us borrow, and will let us continue borrowing till need be. The place we've called home for 3 years is not safe for our children. As of right now, our plan is to rebuild. But unfortunately we do not have the funds to do so. We need help. We've come to the realization that we cannot do this on our own. All donations will go towards giving our children a safe home. We appreciate all the help we can get.
UPDATE- We had our house evaluation done today by the county and state health department. Every place they had tested, has lead. Some places even having 3× the "normal" amount of lead based paint. We appreciate all the help we have gotten. If you cannot donate, please share so we can get our story known. GET YOUR OLD HOMES TESTED! The effects of lead are not reversible and can be deadly.
