Amanda's Fight With Cancer

My name is Amanda and I am 27 years old.  I have been battling Thyroid Cancer, which has now spread to the lymph nodes, along with vascular invasion, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and fast growing nodules for over a year. I was sick for years before they discovered it was my thyroid.  No one thought to check. 

I was admitted to the hospital in April of last year with seizures, swollen neck and lymph nodes. My neck was double the normal size and after multiple tests and a week & a half in the hospital I was diagnosed.

After having my thyroid completely removed and receiving Radioactive Iodine Treatment, my test results showed that I was cancer free.  My thyroglobulin numbers, the cancer marker for Thyroid Cancer, were perfect and I was good to go.  

I returned to work as soon as I could, excited to get back to living life again, cancer free. Life was great and things were looking up for the first time in a long time. 

As of recently, my blood work has shown that the cancer has come back, this time with a vengeance.  My cancer markers are higher than they every have been, even BEFORE surgery and treatment.

All of a sudden I started to feel ill and continued to feel progressively worse each day. Then I began having seizures and was admitted to the hospital for more testing.

I have recently received word that I have been accepted by Dr. Stephanie Fish at the Memorial Sloane-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and will soon start my new path of treatment and recovery.

Thyroid Cancer is commonly known as the "best" cancer, but NO CANCER IS GOOD CANCER. Not many people are aware of the mental, physical and emotional burden cancer places on the afflicted person. 

 This GoFundMe is to help me pay for some of my medical debt.  It is racking up and becoming very overwhelming.  I appreciate any help. If I reach my goal of $7,500, I plan on donating $2,500 to help with Thyroid Cancer research.   Thank you so much and God Bless.
