Howard University Senior Needs Help to Graduate
I am a 32-year-old, non-traditional graduating senior at Howard University, and I am reaching out for help during one of the most challenging times of my life. As a first-generation college student and a veteran, I have worked tirelessly to pursue my dream of earning a degree in classical voice with a focus on opera studies. My journey has been filled with determination, sacrifice, and a deep passion for music.
In the final stretch before graduation, I have encountered unexpected hardships. My car broke down just days before my senior recital, and the repair costs are overwhelming. I commute from Baltimore to DC for school, so reliable transportation is crucial. To make matters worse, my car was broken into and my passenger side window was shattered, adding to my financial burden. I also have a remaining tuition balance with Howard University that must be paid before I can graduate. The stress from these challenges led to a recent hospitalization for high blood pressure, making this time even more difficult.
Despite these setbacks, I have continued to work hard as a vocalist, traveling to Italy and participating in community choirs and competitions to build my resume. I have exhausted all my funds from the Post-9/11 GI Bill, and I am now asking for support to help cover my tuition and car repairs so I can graduate and continue pursuing my passion. Your generosity will help me overcome these obstacles and achieve a milestone I have worked so hard for. Thank you for believing in me
