A Movable Feast wants to introduce people to fresh flavors and ingredients available locally, encouraging the support of local farmers, butchers, and vendors in place of chain grocery stores.
I’m Shawn Sweeney, and my chef journey began over 20 years ago. I’ve worked in many restaurants, learning various cuisines, and in Spring 2013, I accepted the role of head chef at The Tasting Room at Hoppin’ Frog and moved my now-wife Angela to Akron. Over the last five years, we had some major life changes – job changes for both of us, a daughter (named after Julia Child), and another baby on the way – Akron has truly become our home! We have watched our friends Matt & Heather Ulichney of The Square Scullery become pioneers of the food truck scene in Akron over the past couple of years, and they are part of our inspiration to embark on our own culinary adventure – A Movable Feast.
Along with our friend Mark Williams, who hails from Hawaii and has been cooking for 10 years, we will serve fresh meals using seasonal ingredients from local farms and markets, supporting our local small businesses. Having established relationships with many local farmers, butchers, and artisan meat and cheese vendors in Akron, Cleveland, and Youngstown gives us the ability to use the best and freshest ingredients in our meals, no matter our location. Using local vendors demonstrates the thought and care we will put into every dish, down to each ingredient we use.

· Vegetarian/Vegan Rice Bowl with fresh seasonal vegetables
-Includes option to add fresh raw tuna (Hawaiian poke bowl)
· Smoked Brisket Sandwich with BBQ mayo & pickled vegetables
· Ramen Taco with pork belly & a cured egg yolk
Side Dishes
· Quinoa Salad with local berries and honey
· Bag of Housemade Chips
A Movable Feast will bring our unique and continuously changing menu to festivals, breweries, community events – you name it! We will also cater events, such as weddings, parties, and more. While based in the Akron area, we will serve our fresh, seasonal meals at venues and events in the Youngstown, Canton, and Cleveland areas as well. Additionally, we will choose one day each month to provide free meals to local first responder departments in the areas we serve as a token of our appreciation for what they do for our communities.

Your contributions will go toward:
· Final cost of the truck
· Inventory items, small wares, and initial food products
· Kitchen equipment and rental
· Health permits and vendor licensing
· Event fees
· Complimentary meals to local first responders
Our culinary adventure is full of risks, but with your love and support, we will realize our dream of supporting small businesses and making local flavors and ingredients more accessible to people in the communities we consider home.
