Amos was in a motorcycle accident in the evening on 5/21/2021 he was riding with 3 friends when he tried to pass a vehicle and they swerved into the lane he was in causing him to leave the road way and go into the ditch. When he tried to reenter the road way his motorcycle bottomed out and ejected him down the roadway.
At the time of the accident Amos was taken to marlette hospital, sedated and incubated. He was then life flighted to Flint hurley, he underwent emergency surgery in the very early hours the next morning to suture the skin/muscle that was torn away back in place and to clean all of his wounds. We learned that he has 4 fractures of his back/cervical and a large amount of fractures in his face, as well as a few other places.
More concerning then just the fractures however is that his MRI's & CTs picked up a couple different concerns on his brain scans, the order the doctors gave them to us in was from least to most concerning He has a few small brain bleeds, a small spot on his right cerebellum that lacked oxygen causing it to become "grey matter" and a Diffuse Axonal Injury. As for the spot in his right cerebellum, that party of the brain is generally used for gait/balance, however they will not know how severe it is until he gets to the point of being conscious. The main concern currently is the Diffuse Axonal Injury (or DIA for short) it is a common diagnosis with a TBI caused by a vehicle accident the unfortunate thing is with scans there is no way to tell how serious is it. Per the neuro surgeon in some rare cases someone can wake up in be themselves in weeks, some after intensive therapy would be back to themselves after 5 years and there is a chance he will stay in a vegetative state.
Right now we are still waiting on more answers and will post updates as we know them, but here is what I am here to ask you.
Most people that know Amos know that he would quite literally give the shirt off his back to someone walking down the street. Just weeks before this he sent a couple broke down motorcycles on the side of the road, he loaded them up took them back to his house and fixed them for the people riding them not having a clue who the were, why? Because that is just the person he was. Always putting everyone else before himself. It's now time for us, his friend, family, acquaintance or anyone he had ever touched to do the same and help him out the way he would anyone else. Him and his beautiful, faithful and strong wife Alison are just coming up on their 1 year marriage anniversary in August, she has not left his side since she got the phone call about his accident and of course would like to stay by his side as long as she can. At this time we do not have a timeline to even predict. I am here to ask for your help to raise funds for them to be able to stay here and take the stress and worry of paying their bills off of them so she can put 100% of her effort into being the best support she can be for Amos. Alison, currently will not be able to be paid during her time off, although her job is protected for as long as she needs. Amos does have short term disability but this will only cover 60% of his pay for 13 weeks. If you can afford to donate even just a couple dollars to these amazing it would mean so much. If not, most of all they both could use all the prayers they can get to stay strong, fight hard and heal fast.
