AML Again…Maddie B needs your help!

Hello, I have decided to start a new GoFundMe for Maddie. As you may recall, she was treated for acute myeloid leukemia (or AML), from September 2022 to May 2023. Initially she had monthly bone marrow aspirations, until September, when, they changed it to every three months. The very first three month aspiration came back with a very miniscule elevation on her PCR. Long story short, she then had three more aspirations in a three month span, when the decision was made to call this recurrent AML, with a plan for a bone marrow transplant. For about three months now, Maddie has been getting chemo, the first two months or so were all outpatient, which was great, but now she’s been admitted to the hospital. This is the second week, she was admitted after she got a new Hickman surgically placed, she had five days of very high dose cytarabine, and is now waiting for count recovery. As of today she is having fevers and headaches, and requires blood and platelet transfusions.
Maddie graduated From high school in June 2022, and three months later she almost died. A long, grueling nine months of chemo and every possible negative side effect, but finally she was discharged in May. Then, she got herself a car, she took a semester of classes at college, and she was working. She’s really trying to get her future lined up but leukemia keeps stepping in the way! Clearly she cannot work now, and she does want to have one of her ovaries removed and frozen so that she can have children one day. We’ve been told that it’s 99% certain after the conditioning, chemo, and radiation prior to a bone marrow transplant, That she will be unable to conceive on her own. And she definitely does want kids one day. So that’s the point of this GoFundMe, I am hoping to raise funds not only to help pay for the storage of the ovary, because it is the patient’s responsibility to pay for storage, I’m also hoping to get a tidy little sum together for her to kick off her life again when she’s finally done with this cancer BS for good!
