Wrestling to get to Columbus
Donation protected
I work as an intervention specialist for children with emotional and behavioral issues. For two years now, I have been coaching a middle school wrestling team and it has been life changing. Last year we finished undeafeted and this year we have qualified to compete as a club team in Columbus at the Junior High State Duals on March 6th. The amount of success my young wrestlers have experienced is considered by most as over-achieving given how underprivileged their daily lives are. The biggest problem we face now is that our club wrestling program is under-funded. As of now we cannot afford the trip to Columbus, the overnight stay, the meals and the equipment to compete for a dual team state championship. Most of the young hearts on my team have never been out of Northeast Ohio. The stories of personal triumph that every wrestler on my team has is remarkable and inspirational. As their coach for the last two years, I have experienced young student athletes dealing with issues that would bring an adult to their knees and has often brought me to tears. Yet, they keep showing up and giving relentless effort. As their coach I feel obligated to give these young minds the experience of being recognized for their greatness! Any funds that we acquire will go to the bus trip, hotel, meals and new warm-ups so that they can look like a team! We are almost a month away and need to reserve rooms very soon. Please consider your donation as creating the opportunity for these deserving children, that are the future of this sport and our communities, to finally get recognized for their greatness.
