Amir's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amaya and I created this GoFundMe to help pay for my dad’s medical and rehabilitation costs after suffering from a stroke.
On Wednesday, September 13th I received a call from my dad saying he wasn’t feeling good. He explained he couldn’t move his left hand and fell when trying to stand up. I rushed back home and found him sitting on our outside steps. When I arrived he could no longer move the left side of his body, felt dizzy, and was slurring his words. I immediately called 911 and paramedics arrived within five minutes.
They informed me he was having a stroke and rushed him to the hospital. My mom and I arrived at the hospital where my dad was being treated in the emergency room. The doctor informed us he had a brain bleed occurring in the right side of his brain. In the emergency room my dad could hardly move his left arm, left hand, or left side of his face. His speech was continuing to slur.
In the afternoon, my dad was moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) for further treatment to stop the progression of the brain bleed. In the days following the stroke, he has remained in the ICU to continue receiving life saving medication and consistent close medical attention.
Our family is anticipating his release from the hospital and the physical and occupational therapy that will immediately follow. We are asking for financial assistance in managing the costs of the bills following my dad’s stroke. Our medical insurance will not completely cover the costs of the medical treatment and therapy. Due to the therapy needed at the rehabilitation hospital to regain functionality and coordination in the left side of his body, he will be unable to work as an electrician in the near future. My mom is currently working as much as she can to cover bills while he is away. My brother is a current junior at Kirkwood High School and is attempting to support my parents during this time. I am a current junior at Stanford University and supporting my family as much as possible from college.
Thank you for all your support and kind messages during this time!
