Donate to Youth in Film, in memory of Amira Lekic

On February 16, 2023, we lost a beautiful, brave and brilliant soul with the passing of our dearest friend and sister Amira Lekic. Although lost too soon, Amira enjoyed her life to the fullest, taking risks, spending time with friends, taking on any challenge with passion and a positive attitude and ensuring that her life's work spread knowledge and awareness of important issues, both through her personal interactions and through the films she produced.

Over the last 15 years, Amira dedicated her work to film production, helping to build and establish the industry in Bosnia and contributing to over 30 films. This was an industry she believed could change society. She also found it important to give back and to help others, especially youth, build the confidence and skills they need to take their own risks and succeed in film.

In Amira's name, we would like to continue to support youth who are passionate about film. We are therefore reaching out to all of you who also knew and loved her to see if you are interested in contributing as well. The money raised here will be donated to the Fusion Youth Centre in Ingersoll. Since 2006, the Centre has been a key hub for the community by fostering and cultivating youth skill development. The Centre serves youth between the ages of 12 and 18 from the Oxford County region, and offers a range of programs and activities – from sports and recreation to cooking and the arts, including recent investiments in their film programming. Given the importance of this work to Amira, and the proximity of this program to people and places she loved, it is a perfect fit for this memorial contribution. The Centre has confirmed that some form of naming recognition will be provided.

The Fusion Youth Centre is a charitable program and any return from this donation will be returned to the Centre.
