My name is Amina Jones, and I am an innovator, warrior, and trailblazer. I seek your support to attend the Explore and Breakthrough training in San Francisco, CA, as part of the Atlas Project! I currently am a single mother of two plus a graduating Senior at the University of California, Berkeley studying African American Studies. At UC Berkeley, I am an Independent Research Scholar, a Berkeley Underground Scholar , Policy Director of the Graduate Assembly , and a student member of the Independent Advisory Board for Police Accountability and Campus Safety , just to name a few.

Things haven’t been easy. My experiences have challenged me, my environment has shaped me into a committed, passionate, and strong woman. I am ready to invest in the tools to further my leadership to impact my community.

 

In June 2019 , My family and I faced a brutal and violent police-civilian encounter that resulted in my oldest son being physically assaulted by a police officer and falsely detained on a residential playground. My son now has severe trauma and PTSD from this violent interaction with law enforcement, and I am committed to healing through this in a way that empowers my son to be the man he is meant to become. I know that the only way this happens is by empowering the leader in me.


I am committed to continuing this healing journey and am seeking your help in expanding my scope of the endless possibilities ahead. I am seeking your support to help me reach my fundraising goal of $3,000 to attend Atlas, emotional intelligence and leadership development training. My goal at Atlas is to envision a greater future for the world where my passions and experiences align with my goals. I aim to build a world that my sons can grow up proud to be a part of and eager to contribute to. This program is geared to empower the leader within us to manifest our visions for the world and charge up the purpose we all have inside.
