I am building a health and wellness center in southern Belize from the ground up! The project will be an international community center--a place where people from around the world will come together to share their skills and services with the local community in Belize, gaining in exchange low cost lodging, a jumpstart to a fun-filled vacation, residency accommodations, and relationships that will last a lifetime.
The center will be a place for education and awareness about health and healing—broadly defined to include yoga, meditation, art, dance, music, nutrition, massage, reiki, weight training, zumba, childbirth education, herbology, astrology. You name it, if you do it and believe what you do can benefit others then you can be a part of Mango Meditation Healing Arts Center.

In this new economy of exchange, you will gain exploration into the culture of Belize and all that the country has to offer. Whether it’s caving, tubing, snorkeling, diving, visiting Maya ruins, nature walks, bird watching, iguana and tapir sightings, sitting on the beach at the cayes, or just drinking beer and singing karaoke with people you will get to know through Mango Meditation Healing Arts Center.
Why Belize? Well, because it’s beautiful! Okay, back up. I first lived in Belize for a year in 2006 when I did my PhD research in Anthropology. I worked with the Ministry of Health midwives and pregnant women to understand maternal health and development. I lived with a Belizean family, my children went to Belizean schools, and I made friends. During this research I saw a desire for information and for the exchange of ideas. Since this time there has been an increasing interest in health and fitness, which makes these services especially desirable but not always available in southern Belize.
I invite you to be a part of Mango Meditation Healing Arts Center because it’s a win-win situation for all. Everyone stands to gain from a center that encourages growth, healing, and sharing. It’s about creating relationships, learning new things, and feeling good about what you do.
My fundraising goal is $75,000. Your pledge will help take this project to completion. Thanks!
