Amie's Athlete Fund 4 World Downhill Championships

Hello! My name is Amie Sheppard and I am honoured to have the chance to represent Canada for a second time in Downhill Skateboarding. The World Skate Games in Argentina 2022 was the first opportunity and now we head to the islands!

My sport is on an epic journey to share the action! World Skate will be hosting the Downhill Skateboarding & Street Luge World Championships in Tagaytay, Philippines from February 22nd to 25, 2024.

Canada is sending a full team and I could not be more proud to be able to compete at the highest level of this wild sport. This was made possible by competing at the three qualifying races in the 2023 season: Knox Mountain Downhill in Kelowna, BC, Maryhill Fall Freeride in Goldendale, WA and Soldiers of Downhill in Bainbridge, OH.

Being a 33 year old female high level athlete is no easy feat. I work as a landscaper, snowboard instructor, emergency room administrator, program facilitator at the youth centre, custodian at a backcountry lodge and build bike trails to name a few things. And still find time to train and compete.

From Rowing and Rugby Varsity athletics at McMaster University to Downhill Skateboarding, I have always loved to spread stoke through sport. Showcasing this exhilarating action sport and inspiring others to keep playing no matter what age they are has brought so much joy to my life.
