Hello everyone. For those that don't know me, my name is Karen Jackson. I am fundraising for knee surgery for my niece, Amethyst Barned. She is a very talented dancer and wants to pursue a career in dance. She recently auditioned for many of the UK's top dance colleges and was accepted by some prestigious schools due to start September 2025. She was also selected to compete for team England in this year's Dance World Cup in Spain this July. Unfortunately her dream to compete has been shattered as she has suffered a severe knee injury. She has torn her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) after her knee gave out while landing a jump during practice. This will require reconstructive surgery so that she can continue dancing. Without the surgery her knee won't be strong enough for her to train and dance professionally. There is a very long recovery period after surgery normally 6 to 9 months where she will require rehabilitation and extensive physiotherapy. The dance college has been kind enough to hold her place until September 2026 but in order for her to be fully healed in time she will require surgery ASAP. She was advised that the current wait time on the NHS is from six to twelve months so the only way she will be healed in time to attend college in September 2026 is with private surgery. The cost for surgery plus MRI, consultations, and rehabilitation is estimated at £9,800. I'm sure you will appreciate that this is a large sum of money and that her parents are unable to raise all of the funds themselves during this time. I am therefore sending out this heartfelt request for any financial assistance you are able to donate. If you don't know Amethyst, she is a lovely unassuming young lady with a real passion for dance and extraordinary talent.
