Hello everyone!
As many of you know, I am a junior high ESL teacher. I teach the English language to students whom have just arrived to the United States within the past two years. They have worked hard through transitioning from virtual learning to in person learning, masks on all day, and at times being quarantined. I want to thank them for always making this crazy year worth all the hard work and for allowing me to love my job. I have 15 students this year who have worked so hard with their English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. It would be amazing to reward them. They hear me talk about the Houston Astros game. All year they hear me talk about my love for the team and I think it would be awesome to give them the experience of attending an MLB game... something none of them have ever done before. I am shooting for a Friday night game so they can also see a professional firework show from their seats once the game ends. Because of restrictions this year, schools are not taking field trips. Therefore, this would not be a school sponsored event. My ESL Paraprofessional, my parents, my sister and my husband will all be banning together to transport them to Minute Maid Park and chaperone the event. The money raised will be strictly for the kids. I will use it to purchase their tickets and buy them a snack and drink. Anything that is not raised will come out of my personal pocket. Chaperones will be covering all their own expenses. Many of us probably remember our first time to the ballpark and what fun it was. If your are able to help my kiddos experience this too, I'd be so appreciative. Any little bit helps! Thank You!!
