The American Blues Theatre Company is an actor's ensemble committed to producing challenging and provocative theatre, in an intimate setting, with passionate integrity.
From 1999 to 2004, American Blues produced 24 productions in it's 70 seat storefront conversion theatre in the Miracle Mile (on Pacific Ave. in Stockton Ca.). An additional 4 productions were produced 2004-2008 in the Studio Theatre at Delta College..
During it's run, American Blues was highly praised by theatre critics, while receiving numerous nominations and awards through the Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance (S.A.R.T.A.).
The American Blues Theatre Company's 2017 revival production of THE ILLUMINATI (originally produced in 2003) will mark it's first theatrical venture in a decade.
In a post apocalyptic bunker-sanctuary, a lone keeper of the flame presides: aging hippie-survivalist Reverend Eddie (tormented by whispering voices and paranoid hallucinations) denounces the secretive, omnipresent, and mind-controlling Illuminati. With the help of his last remaining acolyte (the ever faithful hunchback, Brother Lawrence) Reverend Eddie celebrates his quixotic devotion by preparing for his final test of faith: a one-on-one basketball game with The Grim Reaper.
