American Bistro Bakery

Upon purchasing of the Building by Main Floral, Owners Dawn T and Steve M began a complete renovation. During this time they approached me to discuss the possibility of restoring the old dilapidated Co-op deli. My wheels started turning immediately and AMERICAN BISTRO BAKERY was conceptualized.
I signed on in March 2018. After 8 Months of renovation American Bistro Bakery opened it's doors October 16, 2018. The reaction from the community was nothing short of outstanding. And we immediately began to grow and flourish beyond my wildest dreams. Thanks to the Patronage of this amazing community that growth continued through 2019 and into 2020.

Then COVID19.
Along with others, our knees buckled, yet we forged ahead.
We made all the changes necessary to continue serving our community with online ordering and curb service. As the downtown population began to dwindle, the City of Anoka expedited a huge Sewer/Water and Streetscape project. Brilliant decision. As a business owner I was trying to figure out how I could come out of the COVID19 shutdown only to open without a street or sidewalk.
We decided in order to save the Bistro, we would need to "Close temporarily" until construction was completed. We couldn't do curb service without a curb. With the shutdown we took time to do a little remodeling including a backsplash and completely new dinning arrangement in anticipation for reopening.
During our closure we also planted a massive organic garden just blocks from the Bistro as well as renovating  a beautiful Italian ESPRESSO MACHINE.
We did this all while staying positive about the future of the business.

Then the CANCER DIAGNOSIS.
Complete shock. After 3 weeks waiting for a diagnosis/treatment plan/prognosis... I have a Cancer that is treatable and the prognosis is GOOD. The treatment is very aggressive. CHEMOTHERAPY and RADIATION simultaneously.
7 weeks of treatment. As I am currently in my third week of treatment I will be phasing out of the Bistro by weeks end. I will begin my second series of CHEMO on Monday and will no longer be able to work as the treatment is causing extreme fatigue due to vulnerable and overactive immune system. My body is currently in overdrive creating new healthy cells to replace everything lost in Chemo. Resting my body to help it heal will be paramount.
I made the decision to OPEN the Bistro Bakery with "Summer hours". 8:00-12:00 Tuesday -Saturday. Expanded our Bakery offerings, Serving Espresso drinks and offering a huge selection of our scratch made soup, sandwiches on hand made breads , salads and a large variety of desserts in hopes of saving the Business.
Unfortunately with the affect treatment has had on me, we have had to pull back yet again for a chance to heal.

We plan on reopening in September with full Bistro lunch service.

A couple friends are setting up a Go Fund Me Page and donation bucket to help me and American Bistro survive and thrive financially.
Thank you for your help and patronage!
