My sweet little niece, Amelie, was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia called B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She received this heart-breaking news only two days after her 4th birthday. She is currently undergoing several weeks of chemotherapy that is part of what is called an induction phase, the start of an intense two and a half year treatment. She is under the care of the Pediatric Oncology/Hematology at Walter Reed Medical Center.
Her mother, Katya, faces this unimaginable battle with grace and perseverance only five short months after the sudden death of her husband (Amelie’s daddy). I have no doubt she will continue to do so, for she has been equipped with the fierce strength that accompanies the unconditional love for a child. She is committed to combat this fight head-on to ensure the full recovery of her beloved child.
We know that so many family and friends have extended their love and support to this sweet family long before this devastating diagnosis. We are reaching out now with this platform for those who may be led to support in a financial capacity to help relieve the burden of the overwhelming out-of-pocket expenses that are inevitable to ensue.
Most importantly and whether or not you’re able to give, we fervently request your continued and ongoing support through the uplifting of this little warrior in your heart, thoughts and prayers.
