Amelie and Justin’s final IVF hopes

We are Justin and Amelie. We have been together for 10 years and married for 5 - over that time we have gone through massive personal upheaval and grief.

Neither of us has immediate family that we are in contact with, which makes life difficult in so many ways, and not having that emotional, physical and, yes, financial support in times of need are examples of how isolating, upsetting and lonely that experience can be.

We’ve spent nearly all of our marriage trying to get pregnant- we desperately want to have a child of our own. Over that time, we’ve done two rounds of IVF, five embryo transfers, resulting in two miscarriages and three failures. Hidden in those experiences is thousands and thousands of dollars spent in hope and lost in despair.

It may be news to some, but IVF is the least expensive path toward becoming parents for us. Surrogacy and adoption have impossible costs and incredible legal and financial hurdles.

We would love to attempt one more round and just give it everything we can - there are treatment options that have higher costs than what we previously have paid, there are options to use donor material that would also increase costs. In order to pursue these options we must decrease the debts our previous treatments have incurred and start in a stable and sustainable financial place. While we have been very lucky to be able to finance our treatment so far, medical costs are never ending and always mounting. Blood tests, procedures - just this year already we have been required to redo multiple procedures (often extremely painful invasive ones) and rounds of bloodwork. All for a chance, all for one last hope.
