Amelia's trip to Hawaii
Donation protected
Hello, this September I am travelling 7200 miles away from my home in London to live, serve and help with the community in Hawaii for a year. I have decided to take this next step in my life to help those less fortunate than myself and to grow in my spiritual journey. I am going to be living a simple life alongside others who I haven't yet met and work closely in the team to serve the homeless on the island of Oahu as well as grow in my faith.
The programme, Revolution Hawaii which I will be a part of is a missionary project organised and run by The Salvation Army which strives to fight against poverty, help in meeting basic human needs and to preach the word of Jesus. As a student of this programme, I am required to raise money to cover the cost of my food, books, housing and training in preparation for working with at risk youth and hard core addicts. Additionally, part of this money raised will go towards providing resources to those people without basic life amenities.
Revolution Hawaii aims to help young adults build strong foundations that will stand up to the life challenges that lie ahead. This venture for me will be eyeopening and very challenging at times however, as said by co-founder of The Salvation Army, Catherine Booth 'To better the future, we must disturb the present'.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and if able, to financially support my journey overseas. I will be updating this page on the progress of my trip and fundraising so please do, when you have a moment see how I am getting on. Your support, prayers and donations mean a lot to me and will help the people I come in contact with during the coming year.
Thank you again,
Amelia
