Amelia’s Life After Amputation

Hello Friends and Family,
My name is Amelia Saldaña and as many of you may know I suffered a traumatic injury on August 4 2024 causing me to dislocate my left knee and in that process it caused for my popital artery to completely tear. While I was rushed to the hospital I had to undergo 18 hours of surgery to stop the bleeding and take a large vein from my right inner thigh in order for them to be able to treat the injury and perform the graft, while I was in surgery I lost tons on blood due to the injury and causing me to have compartment syndrome so in order for them to release the pressure that was forming in my leg they had to make two huge cuts and release all the blood that was building up . For my whole team that was there that night performing the long surgery it was a miracle that I pulled through and made it out of surgery . I still wasn’t in the clear and had a long battle ahead of me and we took it minute by minute every day and being optimistic but most importantly I always had my faith and left everything in Gods hands and I knew I was going to pull through and share my testimony to others and hopefully make an impact on others people lives and see what a “ Night out at the club ” lead to and how the enemy tried to take me away from my loved one’s but God didn’t let that happened and allowed me to have second chance at life and not take it for granted.
On October 6 2024 my life changed completely and my testimony was going to change and become way bigger and have much more purpose . I was re admitted to the hospital many times when I got discharged after spending a whole month in the hospital due to complications but on October 2 2024 this re admission was going to be completely life changing for me and my loved ones . I ended developing an infection called Osteomyelitis of the left tibia and that meant there was an infection in my bones and not really treatable there was a 50/50 chance and I was willing to take my 50/50 chance until they had told me that this infection could lead me into septic shock and I still wanted to take my chances but on October 4 I experienced a terrifying scare that I felt like my body was trying to shut down on me and I had to get a rapid response team called and it was like 9 nurses and a doctor in my room performing all types of test and placing multiple IV’s and having images being ran on my Stat and I remember telling my loved room in the room with me don’t let my close my eyes because I told them if I closed my eyes I wasn’t going to come back to them . After the major scare I went through I had to make a choice I was trying to avoid throughout my whole process and I was avoiding but I had to make the choice to get an amputation done in order to save my life and I made the decision to get an Above the Knee Amputation done also known as AKA . It wasn’t easy making this choice but I knew God had and has a purpose for all of this and I have to leave every in his hands and just trust him throughout this whole process .
I’ve started my prosthetic journey and it’s going well I’m still not walking on my own as that takes months but any donation would be appreciated to help me throughout this journey and process . If your heart desires to donate anything will be a blessing to me . ❤️
