On the morning of August 24, just 7 short days after their daughter was born, Beau Beard and Tara Lees observed their newborn daughter not feeling well.  She was rushed to a local hospital, transferred to Lutheran Hospital at Fort Wayne, and then to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis where their infant daughter was given the diagnosis of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. 

Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, or HLHS, is a serious heart condition in which the left side of the heart is under developed and unable to get the blood to the lungs for oxygenation and transport then throughout the body. 

She is currently under the care of cardiologists at Riley Hospital while they await her lab levels to go into a safe range so that their precious baby girl can undergo the first of at least three surgeries to help repair her heart’s function. Even with the repairs, only the right side of her heart will function, bypassing the left side entirely!

Tara and Beau have over a two hour drive to Riley Hospital and have three other same children: Colton, Max and Alanis
