Hi! My name is Amelia and I am currently a student nurse about to head into the last year of my studies in September. Last year, I was diagnosed with an ultra rare form of cancer (inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour with malignancy) which is something that I never would’ve imagined I would have to face being only 20 years old at the time.

It has truly been the hardest experience of my life. While I’m incredibly grateful to still be here and on the path to recovery, the financial impact has been extremely difficult. For months I was stuck paying for a student flat I could no longer live in, and since I had to defer halfway through the academic year (I returned to studies March 2025), I’ve only been partially eligible for student finance.

As someone who chose nursing to care for others, I find it tricky to ask for help for myself but with another surgery scheduled for September 1st, this is my last resort.

I understand times are tough for all but any donation, no matter how small, would go directly toward helping me get back on my feet while I continue to rebuild my life.
