Ice Hockey World Championships 2024 Fundraiser

My name is Amelia Grigaliunas.

I am 16 years old, and I play ice hockey for

Victoria and Australia.

I am a part of the under 18’s Australian National Women’s Team that will be travelling to Jaca, Spain in January 2024. This is an amazing opportunity, but it is costly!

I am also a player on the Melbourne Ice Women's

(MIW) team here in Victoria. We are a women's state team with a robust history that plays in the Australian Women's Ice Hockey League (AWIHL).

I have been playing ice hockey for about 10 years. I love ice hockey and train and play numerous times a week. I work regularly at the rink and also enjoy coaching some of the younger kids in the development league every week and teaching them everything there is to know about the sport. I am very grateful to have many amazing and supportive Australian ice hockey legends mentoring me along my athletic and sporting journey. I have been very lucky to have played for Australia in Istanbul, Turkey in 2022 (Bronze) and Dumfries, Scotland in January this year where we won Gold!!

Unlike many sports in Australia, Ice Hockey is a pay-to-play sport even at the state level, especially for women, who are historically unable to achieve the same level of viewership and sponsorship as the men's teams. I am currently seeking help with my sporting and travel costs and would be incredibly grateful for any kind of assistance you could provide me. Any donations would go directly into helping with the cost of my fees and gives me a huge amount of confidence knowing that there are individuals and companies out there that really care about growing women's sports in our country!
