AME Supports Keys 2 Success

Since 2011, the Angelos Mission Ensemble (AME) youth have prepared a public Benefit Concert at the conclusion of their summer program to raise money for a worthy community cause. Each year, the proceeds go to a different organization or individual. This year, under the theme "Renewed Heart," 100% of the proceeds from AME's Benefit Concert on June 28th will support Keys 2 Success, an organization that brings quality music education to students starting in Pre-K in the most underserved areas of Newark. Our free, daily piano lessons are delivered in a group setting in the students' own environment, where teachers and volunteers work to remove barriers and support students as they develop into future leaders.

Keys 2 Success: Where Music Breaks Down Barriers and Builds Communities

It started with a simple question: What if we taught the universal language of music to everyone?

Nine years ago, Keys 2 Success began in a small Newark public school where students from Pennington Court public housing called home. With a principal willing to take a chance, an Asian immigrant teacher, and a small group of suburban families volunteering in converted closets that became piano labs, they planted seeds that have grown into something extraordinary.

Today, hundreds of students have received free piano lessons through Keys 2 Success. Those original 1st and 2nd graders have grown into confident leaders who bring together musicians from all backgrounds, spreading joy and hope wherever they perform—from their own neighborhoods to historic venues and even New York City stages.

What Your Donation Provides: Our goal of $3,600 will fund one student's complete year of piano lessons—including access to innovative piano labs located right in public housing communities. Since many students lack quiet practice spaces at home, Keys 2 Success has created dedicated piano rooms where students can practice whenever they want, with lessons offered three times a week.

Every amount helps: Whether you contribute $25 or $250, you're directly investing in a child's musical education and community-building. For perspective, $10,000 supports their most advanced Urban Fellows program, while $1,000 sponsors the community performances that bring diverse audiences together.
