My name is Jose Cavazos and I am creating this fundraiser for my dear niece Liza Maria Lozano C. The amount set in our goal will help her parents cover some of the expenses required for a liver transplant. Here is her story:

Hi! My name is Liza Maria. I was born with an extremely rare disease called Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis (PFIC), and the only way to overcome it is by getting a liver transplant. My parents and the doctors hoped I wouldn't need it any time soon, but due to an unexpected liver failure I suffered last month, the transplant became urgent.

My parents love me a lot. They have been doing everything they can so I can have a better quality of life, but PFIC causes an insatiable itchiness all over my body. Sometimes it doesn't let me sleep at all and it causes my arms and legs to have many scratches. I am constantly weak and in pain due to the bile contamination in my body caused by PFIC. Many times I can't express this to my lovely parents because I am about to be two years old.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for PFIC. The cirrhosis caused by the sudden liver failure was not expected to happen so soon in my life. Therefore, I am susceptible to brain and organ damage, or even death.

Hola me llamo Liza María y nací con una condición genética muy rara llamada colestasis intrahepática familiar progresiva CIFP por esto requiero un trasplante de hígado lo antes posible, mis papás esperaban que fuera dentro de algunos años más, pero mi hígado tuvo su segunda falla importante hace 1 mes por lo que se formó cirrosis.

Mis papis me aman demasiado y han hecho hasta lo imposible por darme la mejor calidad de vida posible, pero la CIFP me hace tener comezón que no se controla, porque mi cuerpo está contaminado de bilis, a veces no me deja dormir, mis bracitos y mis piernitas están siempre llenos de marcas, me produce debilidad y molestias constantes que no puedo comunicar porque apenas cumpliré 2 años.

No hay cura para la CIFP, el pronóstico de que el hígado deje de funcionar es de 5-7 años, yo me adelanté mucho y mi hígado está propenso a fallar pronto o a dejar de filtrar más la bilis y provocarme un daño cerebral y de mis otros órganos.
