My name is darell, and I'm reaching out for help after a difficult year. I suffered a heart attack and needed both an ambulance and an emergency airlift to the hospital. While the VA covered my hospital bills, they denied my claim for the ambulance and airlift—first saying it wasn't preapproved, and then that I wasn't being seen by a VA physician for the related condition. Despite several resubmissions and months of waiting, the VA continues to deny my claim for the lifesaving services I received. The ambulance company has been incredibly understanding, but after a year of red tape, the bill is still unpaid and weighing heavily on me.
Since my hospital stay, the VA community care program has discovered several additional arterial blockages and an anomaly in my lungs. I have a lot of medical appointments ahead, and the stress of this unpaid ambulance bill is making it even harder to focus on my health, work, and family. If I can relieve this financial burden, I’ll be able to concentrate on my recovery and the other challenges I’m facing without the constant worry about this debt.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and even a little support adds up. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering a donation. Your kindness would mean the world to me as I work toward better health and peace of mind.
