Hi hi!

I'm Ambre (am-ber), a San Francisco local originally from Sacramento. I moved to SF in 2024 to lead a life full of experiences and meet people that were inspired like I was, which I did. Unfortunately, I got displaced a few times and wound up couch surfing about 7 months in. That was followed with my partner and I being in between crowded shelters and the streets. I'm a very expressive person. Since I can remember, I've been passionate about music, dancing, and experimenting with fashion... and I hope to live a colorful life where I can continue to explore those passions.

In October of '25, at the daunting age of 30, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes with an A1c of 7.2%. A few months later in February of '26, my A1c had almost doubled! It was now at a 13.8%. Come to find out, I have Type 1 as well!

When I saw those numbers, my heart dropped.

Currently, I spend most of my days with my blood sugar around 400 mg/dL, sometimes even higher! My symptoms consist of rapid weight loss, lethargy, blurred vision, extreme thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, and more.

My body is in a total medical crisis!

My partner and I do our best at managing the 2-4 meetings/appointments I have each week with healthcare professionals alongside the new insulin routine, but we face many challanges.

We are currently facing housing instability. Where we live, we cannot store our own food and what they provide is seldom diabetic friendly. I'm hoping to get a permanent home soon where I can be in control of my diet!

We also struggle with mental health issues, including variations of PTSD, personality and mood disorders, anxiety/panic disorder, OCD, ADHD, and history of SUD. And even though the process is difficult, we are actively learning how to heal and grow into better versions of ourselves everyday wih the help of professionals.

We have little to no income at the moment. Taking care of my health has been taxing and time consuming for the both of us. However, he's been looking for work and I am working with a legal representative on my disability case, so we will hopefully have income soon!

The Goal:

$3,850 for the next 90 days.

This covers diabetes friendly meals and snacks I can actually eat, transportation to and from my 2-4 appointments that I have each week when I’m too unwell for the bus, transportation to the emergency room to avoid expensive ambulance bills when my blood sugar gets dangerously high, continuous glucose monitors that my insurance isn't covering (yet) to check my blood sugar level without constantly pricking my finger, and miscellaneous items I need to live healthily as possible.

All and any support is appreciated! l build this bridge to health and stability.
