Amble Fusion Juggling Balls

Donation protected
Wow this is fantastic! Still receiving donations.
Thanks so much to everyone who donated, shared or helped in any possible way. You are literally making a life time dream come true and it wouldn't be possible without your support. I will leave it up for a while longer, further contributions will go into more development and refinement of Amble Fusion. The first extra 50€ will probably be invested in a new soldering iron. I was planning to build them all with this 12 euro piece that I got when I first learned how to use one. It still works but it's woefully underqualified for the job.

TLDR;

I’m a professional juggler with the idea that juggling can become a musical instrument and I need your help to raise the money for all the necessary electronic components to build this dream.

This campaign will allow me to build a full performance set of juggling balls equipped with sensors. I will then focus my efforts on creating shows and acts of contemporary juggling, dance and music created with these juggling balls using the surprising technology of Amble Fusion.

What is Amble Fusion
The Amble Fusion Juggling Ball is a juggling ball that reports its own experience of motion to a computer in real time. This allows it to generate music and sounds in accordance with that movement. The idea is that juggling will become a musical instrument. It has many different modes of function, the most relatable one is maybe best imagined as an imaginary upright keyboard. This is a dream I’ve had almost ten years ago and an idea which has been hanging in the air within the juggling community for quite some time. Previous attempts have been interesting proof of concepts but have never lived up to jugglers expectations.

Over three years ago I started developing the Amble Fusion Juggling Balls along with their software with the help of friends, family, Google and Youtube. Tim Bouwens built the first prototypes, Bruno Spoerri introduced me to the necessary software to make them come alive and most recently Hannah Marti has started working on the design of the balls. Each of these events have been a major breakthrough and my deepest gratitude goes to them. I’m finally at the point where I believe that they will work reliably and fulfil my expectations in functionality. A long time dream come true.

Who am I
My name is Noah Schiltknecht and I’m a professional circus performer from Switzerland, living and working in the Netherlands. I learned to juggle at the age of 12 and fell in love with it immediately. After attending the Academy of Circus and Performance Arts in the Netherlands where I started working on this project I got my Bachelors degree in 2019 and spent almost a year performing and creating circus and dance shows around Europe. As we all know Covid has put a hard stop to most performances which for me meant that I wanted to use this time as constructively as possible. Writing software and building juggling balls are things I didn’t have enough time for while performing but this is an opportunity for me to bring this project to a point of satisfaction. Having the time to work on this is wonderful, but not performing took my stable income which I used to pay for the development of this dream. Help me be prepared for when it will be possible to see each other in theatres and big tops again.

Fun Stuff 'n Goodies
If you donate a certain amount I will personally contact you to make sure your gift arrives as you wanted it.

Donations of:

150.- € will be able to give a name to a ball. This name will be printed on its shell in their honour.
70.- € will receive a 1-on-1 Skype lesson of 30 minutes from me. This can be juggling, dance, acrobatics or a mix of them.
30.- € will have a juggling sequence or trick developed as a dedication to them.
15.- € will get a postcard with a sick picture of myself in action on it.

If we can achieve this goal by end of April I will have a very creative and inspiring springtime building the set and I will try to bring as much of that excitement as I can back to you too.
