Hi,

Many of you know me, and I’m thankful to know you. My name is Amber Gunter. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit.

My daughter, Estee, is a bright, kind, and resilient young woman who has been silently battling an eating disorder. Through rigorous psychological testing, we’ve also learned that she is on the autism spectrum. In addition to these two diagnoses, she has also been diagnosed with major depression and anxiety.

Over the past four years, Estee has struggled immensely with these conditions. They have deeply affected her daily life, her health, and her sense of self-worth. She has been unable to attend school consistently over the past two years and is missing out on major milestones—milestones that are vital to her personal growth and development. We’ve watched her light dim as she continues to fight these internal battles, and we are determined to help her overcome them.

We’ve had the opportunity to work with Dr. Nicole Stewart, Ph.D., who administered psychological testing and helped pinpoint Estee’s diagnoses. Through this process, we have learned that Estee has several disorders. With the help of a treatment center Estee  will understand better and learn how manage these obstacles throughout her life.

Ideally, Estee requires residential treatment—a setting that can provide round-the-clock therapeutic, psychiatric, and executive functioning care. This environment would offer her the structure and support she needs: daily school attendance, nutritional support, and guidance to build awareness of her symptoms and emotions so she can begin to heal. This type of care is essential for her recovery.

Unfortunately, this type of treatment center is very costly and not covered by insurance.

Why We Need Help:

We are raising funds to cover the cost of daily treatment at Cascade Academy, which is $660.00 per day (about $20,000/mo). The program includes:

• Specialized residential treatment and school (for a stay of 10 months)

• Individual therapy sessions

• Nutritional counseling

• Medical and psychiatric care

Any donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in Estee’s path toward healing.

This has been a long and difficult journey, with many ups and downs. We pray that Estee will soon be able to see her potential again and recognize her worth. She is a beautiful, creative, strong-willed young woman who loves deeply. She deserves happiness, health, and success—now and throughout her life.
