Amber's Journey: Battling Cancer Together

Donation protected
My name is Amber. I am a working wife and momma to a loving and amazingly beautiful 12-year-old boy, Masen. We are an active bowling family here in Kenosha, WI, where we have been since 2016.

Just after the New Year in 2018, we found ourselves in the surgeon's office being told I have cancer. A week later, I underwent major surgery to remove the massive tumor from my colon. In March, I began an extensive and aggressive chemotherapy regimen. In July of 2018, I had a wedge resection in my left lung to remove the cancer. We finished the chemo regimen that fall and now were on a break because I responded very well to the treatments, even better than my oncologist thought. Over the next 4 years, I spent time off and on chemotherapy, as some activity started to return. In July of 2019, a routine hysterectomy found cancer in one of my ovaries, so that was removed and I began aggressive treatment once again. After about 6 months of that, all tests and scans looked good, so I got to take a break for a while. I would go in for routine lab work and port flushes, but all in all, we were looking great! Around Christmas of 2021, one of my blood tests started to flag abnormal, and a couple of scans later, we found that cancer had returned in a few of my lymph nodes. It was this time, I started back on chemotherapy, this time in pill form. I would take a total of 3,000mg of chemo from home, half in the morning and half at dinner for two weeks and then take a week off. This has been working great for the last few years with no thought of recurrence until two weeks ago. A routine CT or CAT scan of my chest/abdomen and pelvis showed that the couple of tumors in my right lung have grown some, there is activity and suspicion of cancer in the lone ovary as well as a 7cm lesion in my liver suspicious for metastatic cancer. I started back on the aggressive treatment I was on when this whole journey began, a 2-hour infusion at the cancer center, and then I take home a 46-hour continuous pump. This treatment plan is every two weeks for I don't know how long. I have a liver biopsy scheduled very soon. While I am still able to work as I have the energy, this all literally knocks me out for most of the week I have treatment, leaving a lot on my husband's shoulders in terms of getting the work done. I do have insurance, but all of these appointments and tests, as we all know, everything adds up and fast! I'm not a person to ask for help at all, but anything that is raised will go towards food for my home and medical bills. Anything and everything helps, a share, a prayer, or any amount you may be able to give. We are not by any means giving up, just another roadblock that has come up. I appreciate everyone so much! I will update this as things pop up!
