Hi I'm Amber,

This year I've chosen to run the Kielder half Marathon in support of my good friend and colleague Jonny who was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma Stage 4 with CNS involvement in January 2026. Jonny is a cracking lad with a very lovable and cheeky personality, he is genuinely a lovely person with a huge heart and would do anything for anyone, he is a valued member of our hospital community and a personal friend who is currently fighting this awful blood cancer. But despite the gravity of this diagnosis and the negative effects of the aggressive chemo-immunotherapy he still manages to stay so positive and determine to battle Burkitt's Lymphoma. He is a huge miss at work and everyone who has met Jonny will know why...

Jonny's family, friends and colleagues are all supporting him to host a series of fundraising events to raise as much awareness as possible for Burkitt's Lymphoma which is a very rare blood cancer affects only 2% of UK population. Not many people have heard about it due to it's rarity and as a result there isn't a lot of information or education for people going through this horrendous diagnosis, we aim to create a community to support building a network for individuals going through treatment for Burkitt's Lymphoma in honor of Jonny's Journey.

So I'm playing my part by running the Kielder Half Marathon in October. It's a tough route with lots of difficult terrain and elevation to run, but set in the most beautiful scenery around Kielder Reservoir.
