Two Survivors. One Life Together.
One of the most unique parts of my story is that my husband and I are both double lung transplant survivors in less than 2 ½ years of each other.
We are living miracles. We are here today because someone else gave us the gift of life. Every breath we take is a reminder of answered prayers and second chances, and we are forever grateful to our donor heroes.
But surviving doesn’t end in the operating room. We are warriors and will never give up. We are excited to see where God will take us.
The financial burden is heavy. Our medical costs will never truly stop. After the initial cost of each transplant which can average between 1.2 – 1.8 million. Even with insurance, we will have a lifetime of medication co-pays, specialized medications, frequent travel for check-ups, testing and monitoring. Traveling requiring missed workdays quickly add up. Some months, the stress of affording survival feels overwhelming.
Before our health declined, Amber and I dreamed of a honeymoon — a moment to breathe, celebrate love, and step into our future together. Our illnesses brought us to the brink of death shortly after we were married. Now that we’ve been given this second chance fighting to survive continues, we hope to finally take that trip when we are strong enough, as a celebration of survival, love, and God’s faithfulness.
We are asking for help to keep moving forward – to focus on healing instead of worrying about how we can begin to enjoy the life we have been blessed with. Every contribution – no matter the size – will help us stay on the path to healing.
If you can’t donate, sharing this page means more than you know.
Thank you for standing with us, praying for us, and believing in our future. We are grateful for every breath, and for every person who helps make this new chapter possible.
From the bottom of our lungs,
Amber & Frank
