Amber's Battle Against Stage 3 Metastatic Melanoma

Donation protected
Amber's journey with cancer began in a subtle yet alarming way with the discovery of an enlarged lymph node under her arm in early October 2023. Following her doctor's guidance, Amber underwent surgery to remove and biopsy the node. The results were a stark revelation: melanoma had spread to her lymphatic system. Though shaken by the diagnosis, Amber's medical team acted with swift precision to chart a path forward.
Within days, Amber was navigating a labyrinth of medical assessments—tests and scans that would shed light on the full extent of her condition. The diagnosis crystallized into a daunting reality: Stage 3 Metastatic Melanoma. The source of this malignancy was traced to a seemingly innocuous mark on her hand, which was connected to not only the excised node but also four additional nodes in her neck and arm area.

Cancer has profoundly altered Amber's life. Known for her tireless work ethic and deep commitment to her career advancement, she has found herself in a position where she must now pause her professional growth and channel her energy into her health journey. This recalibration extends into her personal sphere, where she draws strength from her partner of over a decade and their young son—both of whom have stepped up in ways that embody their profound love and commitment.

Adapting to this new reality has been challenging for Amber, who's naturally inclined to be the caregiver rather than the one cared for. The toll of treatment is evident; fatigue and vulnerability to illness have become her daily companions, reminiscent of the isolation felt during quarantine periods.

Currently, Amber faces an unyielding opponent: an incurable cancer, yet one that holds the potential for remission with effective treatment. The threat of recurrence looms large, but Amber's resolve to confront each battle remains unshaken. Her treatment regimen is rigorous, involving dual immunotherapy drugs administered tri-weekly, complemented by vitamin infusions. A recently implanted chest port has simplified these treatments, sparing her the repeated discomfort of IVs.

The financial burden is staggering; costs have soared beyond $375,000, though insurance has shouldered much of this. Nevertheless, Amber faces deductibles amounting to $3,500 for this year and the next.

The funds raised through this campaign will provide Amber with the peace of mind necessary to focus on healing without the specter of financial strain. They will ensure uninterrupted access to essential treatments, surgeries, and tests.

Amber is bolstered by an extraordinary support network. At work, empathy and assistance flow freely from colleagues at every level. In her private life, family and friends form an unbreakable circle of care—nourishing meals, emotional support, and steadfast companionship at appointments are but a few ways they've shown their solidarity.

Looking ahead, Amber's ambition remains undimmed—she aspires to be the President of Bison USA and will continue to shoot for the moon. This fundraiser is more than financial aid; it's a lifeline that will enable Amber to concentrate on battling cancer and pursuing her dreams without the looming anxiety of monetary constraints.
