Amber's Army Against Cancer

On June 19th, 2020 I got the call no mother wants to get – “Mom, I have breast cancer”. It took me a minute to catch my breath but I knew that breast cancer was a fightable disease and if anyone could beat it Amber Gamble could and would, after all she was young (only 34)!
She was sent to Vanderbilt in Nashville where it was determined that she didn’t have the typical breast cancer, oh no not my daughter! She has always been unique to say the least. Vanderbilt diagnosed her with small cell carcinoma that presented in the breast. This is a very rare occurrence. Small cell usually always starts in the lungs. This cancer is extremely aggressive so they treated it aggressively.
She is an amazing mother of two children Kaylee, 11 and Hayden, 10 – they have been real troopers during all this! Her husband Trevor has been by her side for her treatments. She even worked through most of her first two rounds of chemo treatments, surgeries and physical therapy even though there were many times that she could barely make it through the day. Amber just didn’t want to see their family suffer financially due to her illness.
Amber has already been through 2 surgeries and 28 bags chemo and she found out on February 17th the cancer has returned. A reoccurrence so soon is not common so she decided to seek treatment at a facility that has treated small cell in the breast before so she can hopefully be cancer free soon. This brings a few added issues and concerns for her and our family – travel, lodging and transportation just to start. Amber is not working right now due to her next project at work is out of town but that job will have to wait until she finishes treatment. Add in Trevor taking off work to be with her increases the financial strain.
This cancer has been coming back before she even finishes her rounds of chemo so we have to join together as a team to fight back even harder. So as a mother and grandmother I felt it necessary to reach out to our family and friends for help – believe me it was not something Amber was on board with at first but this cancer is not going to beat her or us!
Please let me stress to you that we are only asking you to help if you are able to do so, if you can’t contribute financially please know that your prayers are just as meaningful to us at this time!
As of right now, she will be traveling back and forth to Houston at least every other week until she begins radiation, at that time it may become necessary for her to stay there long term.
God Bless each and every one of you for your thoughts, prayers and the support you have shown her through her battle!
Thank you,
Donna Lovett (Amber's Mother)
