Hello friends and family! A very close friend of mine, Amber, had a stroke a couple of weeks ago. She is a mother of 3 boys, twins that are 11 and her youngest is 5.
She was feeling numbness in her lips, so her husband took her to the ER. Once there, they did many tests to see what was going on. The doctor's saw that she had some scars from a minor stroke she had a few years ago. She had no idea that it had even happened.
A few days later, after more tests were done, the neurologist informed Amber that she had a stroke and that's why she was feeling numbness in her lips.
Since she can't work at the moment, there is only one income coming in. As a family of 5, it is becoming hard to keep up with the monthly bills and the added medical bills.
The stroke affected her ability to walk, speak, and write so Amber is going to need physical and occupational therapy three times a week, as well as speech therapy twice a week. Every visit she has a $50 copay. That is already a total of $1000 a month in therapy co-payments. This total doesn't include the monthly payments that they need to make for her hospital stay, as well as the medications that she needs to take.
