Amber's 300-hour Advanced Training
Donation protected
As most of you know, I am a yoga teacher here in DC (who woulda thunk, right?!). I completed my first 200-hour training here in the city, as well as a few other specialized trainings in Rocket Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Yoga for Depression. Along my journey, my focus has turned to Yoga Therapy, specifically what is known as the Professional Yoga Therapist (PYT) track. A PYT designs and teaches yoga to populations facing mental, emotional, and/or physical challenges. This can include working with individuals or groups of people diagnosed with a terminal or mental illness, recovering from a severe injury, suffering from anxiety or depression, or those experiencing grief. I have a particular interest in working with survivors of trauma and those suffering from PTSD.
To begin this leg of my journey, I completed a second 200-hour training with a focus on Yoga Therapeutics in Costa Rica this January. The next move involves attending a 300-hour Advanced Teacher of Yoga Therapy certification course through Integrative Yoga Therapeutics, an International Association of Yoga Therapists accredited school. This course is being offered at Kripalu in western Massachusetts this Summer from July-August, and is a prerequisite to the 800-hr Professional Yoga Therapist certification (end goal!). Additionally, after I finish this course, I will be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance at the 500-hr level. This is a huge step towards being eligible to create my own curriculum and train future instructors.
The total cost of this program including tuition, room and board, travel, and being out of work for a full four and a half weeks (eeeek!), will be about $8,500.00. This is a lengthy and expensive endeavor, and now that the holidays are over and everyone is broke, I thought this would be the perfect time to ask for money!
Yoga has enriched my life in so many ways. It has given this free spirit a focus, but also a beautiful gift to share with others. I am asking for your help in taking this giant step towards my goal of becoming a Professional Yoga Therapist and owning a studio/retreat center that offers multidimensional yoga in a safe, non-judgmental, salutary space for anyone and everyone.
Should this fundraising effort exceed the $8,500 goal (never hurts to be hopeful!), the surplus will be put in a savings account to be used towards the 800-hour course.
