This GoFundMe has been created to help Amber Frampton who is pictured in the blue jacket. Amber will need travel expenses getting back to the US, as well as extensive Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy. This GoFundMe is to help offset some of those costs.

As I type this, I am still in a state of shock. On December 6, 2016, my beautiful sister Amber fell from a 3rd story window onto a tile courtyard below. She hit her head, breaking her jaw and fracturing her eye socket, as well as falling into a coma.

If this had happened in the US, our family would have been able to come together at her bedside, holding her hand and talking to her, making sure she knows how much she’s loved and needed. It didn’t. Her accident happened while she was travelling in Barcelona, Spain. In quick succession on the morning of December 7th, I received phone calls from her boyfriend and from the US Consulate in Barcelona, letting me know that she was in the hospital. That evening, I was on a plane. Unfortunately, I had to go myself, because our mother suffers from Parkinson’s and is unable to travel. Our brothers and uncle have been a huge support,
though.
Seeing my twin sister lying motionless on a hospital bed, tubes sticking out of her face and arms, monitors beeping and nurses fussing over the position of her head, was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever experienced. The experience was surreal, as though it was happening in a dream. This couldn’t possibly be my globe-trotting, independent sister, could it? But the days spent in hospital waiting rooms were real enough.

Since the accident, Amber’s boyfriend and I have visited her in the ICU (or UCI, in Barcelona) every day, for as long as they let us stay. We talk to her, massage her arms and legs, I brush and braid her hair, spray her favorite perfume on her pillows, and read to her from The New Yorker. She is showing progress, and each small victory is like a miracle. She has gone from being motionless to squeezing my hand on command, and moving her legs so much, they have to be restrained!
We are so optimistic and hopeful that she will eventually make a full recovery. The outpouring of love and support from friends and family has been absolutely incredible, as well. We read the messages to her so she knows just how cherished she is!

Amber is currently located in the German Trias Hospital in Badalona, Barcelona, Spain. Amber is no longer in her coma, but still not awake 14 days after this terrible accident and Ashlea has left Rutgers University right before finals began to be there with her sister. This is a family that didn't want to ask for help but they will truly need it in the coming weeks.
