Receiving a cancer diagnosis is a devastating and life-changing experience. While you hope and pray that you or any loved one will never have to endure that traumatic road, imagine what it might be like if you received a cancer diagnosis more than once.

Amber first received the shattering diagnosis of breast cancer in 2020. Amber fought hard and after enduring chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery was blessed to be deemed cancer free in 2021. Since, Amber has done her due diligence in being the best patient possible taking her medications as prescribed, attending her follow-up physician appointments, completing all required labs and imaging to monitor her health status. Recently, in late 2024, Amber, again, received the overwhelming diagnosis of breast cancer-this time in the other breast. Initially, the news seemed encouraging in that the cancer was small, only in the ducts and caught early, however, that soon changed for the worse. The first surgery to remove the cancer and surrounding breast tissue showed that there was more cancer than expected. So, Amber went through a more invasive second surgery both to possibly visually locate more cancer not seen on her mammogram and her MRI and then to remove those areas and surrounding breast tissue. The results of the second surgery ultimately showed the cancer was widespread and Amber was told the crushing news that she would need to undergo a mastectomy.

Amber, who is a fiercely loving and devoted single mother to her sons, Kyler and Kaleb, the sole financial provider to Kaleb, has always made sure their needs are met and beyond. While Kyler is all grown up now and living out of state, Kaleb is in middle school, a busy boy both in his education and being a part of his basketball team. Kaleb still relies on his mother for everything-getting him to and from school, his doctor's appointments, being his biggest cheerleader at basketball practices and games, providing his meals and clothing, etc. Amber is also momma to the family's fur babies-pup, Koa, and kitties, Beau and Benjen. Professionally, Amber is an amazing and engaging employee at Frank Ortega’s State Farm, dedicated to providing education and support to her clients-many of whom know of her previous breast cancer journey.

While the physical and emotional toll of Amber's breast cancer diagnosis and news of a needed mastectomy and breast reconstruction is tremendous, secondly, the financial burden is catastrophic. Amber, financially, took on the first diagnosis with very minimal help and as a result, it has set her back financially. Now that this second diagnosis is upon her, she can no longer do it on her own.

We are asking for your generosity to help lighten Amber's financial load of covering the costs that will greatly impact her life and the lives of her children. The costs associated with Amber’s surgery in December 2024 and another in January 2025 and still what’s to come, will greatly impact her financially. Additionally, the magnitude of a mastectomy requires initial minimum down-time of 6 weeks where Amber will need assistance to navigate even the simplest of tasks of hygiene, dressing, cooking, cleaning and will not be able to drive, walk her dog, or go to work. The needs for the costs that will mount for Amber include:
Health insurance premiums, deductible, cost-shares, and co-pays for pre-op and post-op appointments, labs, imaging, surgeries for mastectomy and breast reconstruction, hospitalization, treatment, medications, wound care, and physical therapy.
Housing
Food and meal prep
Car payment and insurance
Transportation
Childcare
Pet care

Amber is scheduled for her mastectomy on Friday, February 7, 2025. We truly appreciate your heartfelt contribution of any amount that is possible for you. Your giving will go directly to Amber to support her and her family's needs. We also kindly ask for your prayers, thoughts, and well wishes to uplift and encourage Amber on her path to healing. Thank you in advance for joining Amber's healing team!
