Help Amber Muhlnickel and her kids keep their Home
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amanda and I'm requesting an emergency friendship rally around a very good person who's suddenly in a housing crisis.
Due to unexpected vehicle maintenence expenses and a partial loss of income, our close friend Amber Muhlnickel fell behind on her rent this spring.
She was just served with an eviction notice and she and her children are at risk of losing their home of nine years unless she's able to pay off her overdue balance immediatly and in full.
Amber has no alternative housing options, and has already reached out to community programs, which can only provide a small fraction of the assistance she requires.
Amber is a single mother of 4 with 1 in-home grandchild. She works 50 - 65 hours per week, yet still manages to help transport the kids and I to all of our own doctor's appointments. She's been a constant presence in my children's lives in the absence of their other parent - and my children love her and joke that she's their "adopted Dad".
Amber has a huge compassionate heart and gives back to our community and to individuals in need through donations of her time and organizational and managerial skills. She was instrumental in my extraction from my own unsafe living situation, and her knowlege of community services helped the kids and I get back on our feet after starting over with nothing.
Amber was a founding member of Friends Helping Friends, a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit that provided holiday gifts and school supplies for low-income families with children. Amber was also the head of our Volunteer unit at the Auburn Hunger Task Force Soup Kitchen for many years. She oversaw a team of one dozen volunteers, and helped streamline our operating system so we could feed up to 350 people each week.
Amber and her children must raise $4,000 immediatly in order to catch up on their rent and cease the eviction process before it damages her credit and excludes her from receiving any housing assistance in the future. She does have reliable employment and will be able to maintain rent payments once this back-debt is paid off.
Amber has been giving so much of herself to our community for so long - I hope that we can encircle her in friendship and bring her this gift of assistance in her time of crisis.
When I last spoke to Amber this afternoon, she was scheduling an appointment to donate plasma for cash ... which will take place immediatly following her next 10-hour shift at work.
She's exhausted, stressed, operating in Survival Mode, and running out of ideas.
Please, let's all work together to help Amber lift this scary financial burden as quickly as we can.
