In November of 2016, I applied to the Decolonizing Knowledge and Power International Institute held each summer at the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona. I was accepted! This institute takes a deep dive into the dynamics of power and knowledge production that sustain racism, inequality, and imbalance in social and cultural relationships. This institute offers a rare opportunity to hear the voices and perspectives of scholars from around the globe who are actively deconstructing the patterns that uphold social inequity, dehumanization, and injustice. I've moved through tuition and lodging expenses, and now I need your help.
Would you consider donating any amount that suits you to help me purchase airfare to Spain and support transportation abroad?
This trip will fall at the end of my academic journey. In July, I will have completed all required coursework for my Ph.D. in Community, Liberation and Ecological Depth Psychology and be moving into dissertation phase. Instead of a decadent trip to Italy or Malibu (I'll do that next time ;), I have chosen to partake in an international institute that will ground my work in the real world, in lived experiences, and within a global context. My desire is to contribute to the restoration of right relationship among the human family...one song at a time, one story at a time,
one block at a time ... While maintaining an awareness of our larger, more complex, interdependence.
